Valentine Ozigbo, the flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP in the 2021 Anambra governorship election, has declared his party’s ticket which has a seasoned administrator, Mrs Azuka Enemo as “perfect to lead the charge for the transformation” of the southeastern state.
Mr Ozigbo made the submission on Saturday, September 25, 2021, while addressing a mammoth crowd at a PDP campaign rally in Oyi Local Government Area held at St Paul’s Anglican Church Central School Field, Nteje.
In his address, Ozigbo, who is the immediate past Past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, thanked the people of Oyi for their unwavering support for him and the PDP, urging them to sustain the tempo and translate it to votes and eventually victory at the poll.
“Anambra is not in a good place. This election is not for sentiments. Things have gone wrong, and we should not let it get worse than this. The only way to stop the decay is to choose our leadership. Anambra needs a leader that listens,” Ozigbo said.
“Together with my running mate, Mrs Azuka Enemo, I can tell you that Anambra will be in safe hands. I am fascinated by her achievements over the years. We are the best combination you can get – a corporate overachiever and a grounded public administrator with experience at the local government administration.
“We are coming to set a new standard in governance. We have a lot to accomplish, especially in the Omambala area, which has been neglected for long, despite having your brother as the governor.
“We have considered the Omambala area and its unique needs. We will fix your roads, schools, healthcare, security and all agricultural capacity. I mean well for Anambra State, Omambala and Oyi.
“So we need to win more disciples for us. The election is a few weeks away. Let us ensure that we come out massively to vote and protect our votes.
“It is time for us to stand firm, and you will be proud of what Anambra State will become under my watch. I promise to be that governor that will bring the transformation that Anambra desires,” Ozigbo added, attracting a loud ovation from the adoring audience.
In her brief remarks, Ozigbo’s running mate, Mrs Azuka Enemo, urged the people of Oyi to remain committed to the Ka Anambra Chawapu project, especially as the election is fast approaching.
“What is important in this election is our commitment to changing the trajectory of our state. So we must give a hundred per cent of ourselves to see that Anambra reaches its expected potential,” Enemo said.
While addressing the crowd, Amb Oseloka Obaze, the PDP guber candidate in the 2017 election, charged the people to see their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) as the key to unlocking their future.
“Right now, your most significant strength is your Permanent Voters Card (PVC). It is your ticket to a New Anambra. So go out and canvass for votes for our candidate.
“Ozigbo is a visionary leader, an experienced technocrat, and most importantly, he is a good man, which is why we are here in our numbers to support him,” Obaze stated.
A prominent politician and businessman from the local government, Chief Samuel Ikefuna, who also gave an address, recalled meeting Ozigbo over two decades ago.
Chief Ikefuna, who is the MD/CEO of Samzek International Limited, urged the people of Oyi to rally support for Ozigbo and Enemo, “so Anambra can witness rapid development”.
“Anambra has been in the wilderness for the past eight years, so I was excited when my friend, Valentine Ozigbo, declared interest in running for governor,” Chief Ikefuna revealed.
“Ozigbo and I share a long history that dates back to more than 20 years ago. I have experienced his capacity and competence, and I am confident that Ndi Anambra will see something different when he assumes office at Agu Awka.
“Ozigbo has a revolutionary vision for Anambra State. The current government has destroyed Anambra’s economy to the extent that the state cannot provide jobs. With his sterling track record, I am assured that employment and job security will be guaranteed when he assumes office as the governor of Anambra State.
“So we have one task left to see that this vision is accomplished. On election day, come out early, go to your polling booth, vote and protect your vote,” Chief Ikefuna added.
The rally attracted thousands of party faithful and supporters, including PDP leaders at all levels, lawmakers, members and directors of the PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation.
