Valentine Ozigbo, the flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 6 Anambra governorship election, has promised to fix the Ogboji-Ndiokolo-Ufuma Road in the Orumba area of Anambra State if elected governor.
Mr Ozigbo made the pledge when he visited the severely dilapidated road, which recently suffered an erosion that divided the road and made it impassable for motorists who rely on the infrastructure to connect to Ndiokpeze, Akpo, and Ajalli areas.
While speaking at the erosion site, Ozigbo expressed sadness over the state of the road, promising to fix the important road in memory of the late Edith Nwokedi, an ardent supporter of his candidacy who recently passed on.
“It is sad that Anambra’s infrastructure has deteriorated to this level. This road is a major road connecting Orumba South with other communities. I was born in Orumba South, so fixing this road is personal to me,” Ozigbo, a multiple-award-winning global CEO, declared.
“I pledge to begin work on this road within the first year of my stay in office. APGA has tried their best, I presume, but their best is grossly indequate. It is time for PDP to show leadership and ensure that we never experience similar neglect on our roads.”
Ozigbo and his team proceeded to Eziagu Village in Ogboji, where they were hosted by Mr and Mrs Kelvin and Oby Mezi. Mrs Mezi is the Woman Leader of the VCO Youth Movement who serves as the Secretary of the Directorate of Support Groups in the Anambra State PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation.
Several leaders in Ogboji Community were present at the ceremony, including Mr Benneth Okeke, the PDP Chairman in Ogboji Ward; Mrs Perpetual Nwagbo, the PDP Woman Leader in Ogboji, Chief Michael Obidike and Chief Chukwunike Okeke, who Mr Obinna Onyeji represented, and a host of PDP members and Ogboji indigenes.
Mr Ozigbo’s wife, Mrs Ojiugo Ozigbo, accompanied him on the visit. Other members of his delegation include Rt Hon Eucharia Azodo, the Director for Religious Affairs in the Anambra PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation, Mr Robert Umeozulu, Chief Andy Azike, among others.
Valentine Ozigbo is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc. A grassroots favourite, Ozigbo has won the hearts of Ndi Anambra at all levels with his inspiring political story, his approach to electioneering, and his revolutionary Ka Anambra Chawapu message.
