Valentine Ozigbo Receives Community Service Award As Anambra Indigenes In Rivers State Hold Annual Festival Of Honour

Valentine Ozigbo, the flag-bearer of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), has added another feather to his cap as the Association of Anambra State Development Union (AASDU) in Rivers State conferred the 2021 Community Service Award on the respected business leader.

The award ceremony was the highlight of the annual AASDU Festival of Honour held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Nkpologwu Unity Town Hall, Port Harcourt, Rivers.

Mr Ozigbo, who was in the company of his wife, Mrs Ojiugo Ozigbo, was welcomed with singing and dancing by a large crowd of supporters at the event.

In his acceptance speech address, Ozigbo thanked the organisers for recognising what he termed as his “modest contributions to society”.

Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, stressed the importance of Ndi Anambra who live outside the southeastern state, to develop their home.

According to the respected business leader and philanthropist, Ndi Anambra in Rivers State are pacesetters who have significantly contributed to the economy of the oil-rich state and deserve an enabling environment back home where their industry can be fully utilised.

As the clear favourite to win the November 6 guber poll in Anambra State, Ozigbo also revealed that he was inspired to serve his people on account of the lack of quality leadership, which has hindered the development of the state.

“I want to provide the kind of transformational leadership that eliminates division, promotes unity, and brings on a new world where the powerful uplift the weak and the rich channel their wealth to causes that uplift all of us,” Ozigbo, a multiple-award-winning global CEO, said.

“This is my vision for our home State Anambra. I want to demonstrate that all the things we dream of are possible, and we can bring them to reality by utilising our enormous potential,” Ozigbo, who is one of a few global Kaizen champions, declared to rousing applause from the crowd.

While making a brief remark, Senator Uche Ekwunife, the lawmaker representing Anambra Central at the Nigerian Senate, echoed Ozigbo’s submission that Anambra was suffering from a lack of leadership and the forthcoming election presents the perfect opportunity for Ndi Anambra to get things right.

Senator Ekwunife, who is the Chairperson of the PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation, stated that Ndi Anambra are industrious and help grow the economies of areas where they find themselves. She lamented that despite its potential, all sectors of Anambra’s economy are still underperforming due to a lack of direction and discipline.

The lawmaker, therefore, called on all Anambra indigenes who are in Rivers State to get ready to return home in their large numbers to vote for PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo. According to her, Ozigbo possesses the requisite experience, skillset, and emotional intelligence to lead Anambra to greatness.

A powerful delegation of PDP leaders, members of the State Working Committees, directors and members of the PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation joined Ozigbo at the award event, including Hon Obinna Chidoka, the lawmaker representing Idemili North and Idemili South at the Federal House of Representatives. Valentine Ozigbo is a multiple award-winning global CEO and the grassroots favourite ahead of the 2021 Anambra guber election. An inspiring figure, Ozigbo’s Ka Anambra Chawapu revolution is seen as the largest political movement in southeastern Nigeria.
